Benefit Calculator
Are you struggling to pay your Rent and Council Tax? The cost of living is continuously on the increase, making it difficult for people to make ends meet and pay all their bills. People often find themselves on fixed incomes and are struggling with the cost of living, fuel bills etc.
Many people do not realise they are entitled to extra help, do not know how to claim or feel there is a stigma attached. Personal pride can also prevent people from applying for Benefits. Benefits are not charity and people should be encouraged to claim any Benefits or help they are entitled to.
It is estimated that one in five households in rented accommodation have a low income but are not in receipt of Housing and / or Council Tax Benefit, and have to pay the full Rent and Council Tax. People think that a Single Person Discount is a benefit, and if they are in receipt of this think they are unable to get any further help. This is not the case.
At Harborough District Council we want to ensure that the people in our community claim all the Benefits and Discounts that they are entitled to as this can help to promote an overall feeling of wellbeing.
Claim what is rightfully yours.
If you want to calculate your possible Housing Benefit entitlement, and you pay rent to a Private Landlord, please find your Local Housing Allowance rate first.
It is very important that you do this first, ensuring that you use the bedroom calculator, and that you also read the section regarding 'When you don't need to use the bedroom calculator'.
