Children and Young People at HDC
Children and Young People are recognised by Harborough District Council as an important and valuable part of the communities we live in.
The Council works alongside a range of other organisations, whether County Council run, or local charities and community organisations to help make sure the needs of children and young people in the District of Harborough are recognised and supported, especially the most disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people.
We have a local partnership made up of organisations and people who support children and young people, which gets together regularly to make sure we're on the right track, and to think of new ideas to meet needs - this is called "The District Children and Young People's Partnership". The partners include:
- Health Service
- Schools/Colleges/Education Services
- Youth Service
- Voluntary Sector groups/Faith Groups
- County Council
- District Council
- Parent Representative/s
Children and Young people views are fed into this partnership in a variety of ways.

The Council is currently consulting the community on the plans to transform the existing Council building to make better use of it, and to save money. Part of the plans put forward involve selling or leasing the building where Market Harborough market is held, moving the market somewhere else, and using the money to fund the building improvements.
This is generating a lot of interest and strong views from the community. The Council is keen to hear the views of local young people on the plans.
