House Renovation Grants

The Council does offer a range of financial help to home owners who are unable to get a loan from a commercial lender to carry out essential repairs and improvements to their property. All of the help listed below is descretionary and subject to funding being available at the time of application.  

The types of assistance are:-

Property Appreciation Loans

to assist residents living in poor accommodation requiring financial help to carry out essential repairs and improvments through the release of available equity within the property.

Repayment loans

these loans are aimed at households who are unable to access funding from a commercial lender but can demonstrate the ability to make regular repayments of a loan.

Renovation Grant

this assistance will only be available where there is insufficient equity in the property and the homeowner cannot afford to repay a loan.

Emergency Home Repairs Grant

this assistance is available to homeowners on an income related benefit who require emergency repairs to their property, where waiting for other forms of assistance wuold be detrimental to their health or to the condition of their property.

Top-up Energy Grants

to assist residents who have been awarded financial assistance through the Warmfront scheme where the amount of Warmfront grant is less than the cost of the works required
