Phase 1 Habitat Survey

Lutterworth Country Park

In August 2008 Harborough District Council commissioned WYG Environment to carry out an ecological assessment of areas adjacent to existing urban settlements within Harborough District. This assessment was completed in December 2008 and forms part of the evidence base for the Local Development Framework (LDF). It will be used to inform decisions about future development in Harborough District.

The assessment identifies important habitats and areas of relatively high biodiversity value in the areas adjacent to Market Harborough, Lutterworth, Broughton Astley, Scraptoft, Thurnby, Bushby and selected areas of urban fringe close to Great Glen and Oadby. One of the main purposes of the study is to identify habitat features that may function as wildlife corridors and should be conserved and enhanced wherever possible. Also identified are sites that may qualify for Local Wildlife Site status.
