Conservation Areas in Harborough District

The Conservation Area designation recognises that the character of the area is worthy of being preserved and enhanced. Consequently there are different or tighter planning controls and obligations in respect of new development, publicity, demolition and alterations, work to trees, advertisements and general enhancement.

Harborough District has 62 designated Conservation Areas. The Council formally adopted a series of Maps and Character Statements relating to each of the Conservation Areas.

The Grand Union Canal conservation area has been separately designated by Leicestershire County Council.

For more information about these areas please contact the council and ask for Conservation / Development Control.
