Housing Advisor (Maternity Cover- up to 12 months)

  • Salary: Grade 7 (£29,033-£31,288) pro rata
  • Location: Market Harborough, Leicestershire

Hours: 25 hours per week

Car User Status: Essential

We are seeking to recruit a competent and enthusiastic individual to join the Housing Team at Harborough District Council.  You will provide advice and assistance to people seeking help with finding affordable housing in the district, preventing homelessness where possible, investigating declarations of homelessness and assessing the housing need of applicants on the housing register.

The successful candidate will have experience of prevention of homelessness and investigating declarations of homeless and knowledge of the relevant legislation and Code of Guidance.  An understanding of choice based lettings is desirable but not essential.  Your experience of providing housing advice will include interviewing customers, investigation of housing options and assessing needs. 

Excellent communication skills, the ability to work as part of a small flexible team, diplomacy, customer focus and the ability to use Word, Excel and Outlook to are desirable as well as the ability to use Access databases and document management systems. 

Enhanced clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required for this post.
