We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced estates professional to oversee the day to day estates function for The Symington Building (working with the facilities management team), Harborough Market and other council properties.
The Symington Building houses a number of organisations working in partnership to deliver a ‘one stop shop’ approach for customers and visitors. In addition to Harborough District Council, partners include various services delivered by Leicestershire County Council including the Library & Museum, Registrar Service and Adult Learning, Job Centre Plus and a number of charitable organisations such as the Citizens Advice We also have three on site retail units two of which are occupied. The Council, also, owns Harborough Market. Harborough Innovation Centre, a number pavilion buildings, extensive public open spaces and other land holdings.
Reporting to the Corporate Asset Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the Council’s assets are fully maximised, identifying opportunities for improved use, additional income and addressing issues and risks associated with the portfolio. You will be responsible for lettings, sales or acquisitions of properties as part of the role. In addition, you will be responsible for rent reviews, lease renewals and other lease events such as licences for alteration. You will liaise with customers, tenants, partners, staff, consultants/advisers and public bodies as appropriate.
To be successful in this role you will need:
• Relevant, recent experience in an estates role
• Experience of property audits to identify opportunities to improve the use of property
• Experience in sales, lettings, rent reviews and lease renewals in the commercial property sector.
• Experience in feasibility studies and options appraisals in respect of property
With a strong focus on customer service and excellent communication and customer relationship building skills, you will also be able to demonstrate negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to ensure we maximise our assets and deliver value for money.
You will need a full driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle.
