Crowds got to see some of cycling's top competitors when The Women's Tour event passed through the district.

The event - one of the most high profile cycling events in the world - passed through Harborough district as part of Stage 2 of the tour to the delight of spectators who had braved the wet weather to come and support the riders.

The elite field left Hinckley on the morning of 8 May 2014 covering 118.5km, passing through Enderby, Cosby, Broughton Astley and Lutterworth before crossing into Northamptonshire on its way to the stage finish in Bedford.

A sprint event took place in Lutterworth, with the 'Queen of the Mountains' event held in Kilworth.
