Published Monday 2 June 2014

Harborough District Council will hoist a specially-commissioned Armed Forces Day flag on Monday 23 June 2014.

The Chairman of the Council, Deputy Lieutenant and veterans, service organisation representatives, and other dignitaries, will hold a short ceremony on Church Square in Market Harborough following the flag being hoisted on The Symington Building in Adam and Eve Street at 10.30am.

The occasion marks the build up to Armed Forces Day.

Armed Forces Day will take place on Saturday 28 June 2014 and is an opportunity for the nation to show its support for service men and women, whether veteran or still serving.

It is an opportunity to honour and celebrate the work they do in support of our country.

The intention is that Armed Forces Day should build on the success of the past Veterans Day celebrations and to raise awareness of the past and continuing contributions of the Armed Forces.
