The Local Government Finance Settlement for 2015/16 received by Harborough District Council today was in line with the Council’s forecasts.

The Government has reduced its core funding to the Council by 13% (£452,000) for the financial year 2015/16 compared to the previous year.

Cllr Phil King, the district council's portfolio holder for finance, assets and development, said: "The funding announcement was in line with the Council’s forecasts. The Council will be issuing its draft budget for consultation on the 12th January 2015. The Council continues to proactively manage the impact of significant funding reductions from Central Government, whilst ensuring significant investment into our local communities through grants funded by New Homes Bonus, Section 106, and Broadband Investment totalling over £1.5 million in the past three years."
