A further meeting has been held to safeguard the future of the town’s war memorial, situated at the Cottage Hospital in Market Harborough.

Harborough District Council, which organised the meeting, invited English Heritage along to look at options for the site, along with NHS organisations.

The meeting was attended by Harborough District Council Executive members Cllr James Hallam and Cllr Phil King, council representatives, NHS organisations, and English Heritage.

Cllr Phil King, the council’s deputy leader, said: “I’m pleased English Heritage was able to attend and provide helpful input into discussions around the future and possible relocation of the war memorial. We also discussed options around redeveloping the site for the wider community if deemed surplus to requirements by the NHS which are the current site owners.”

It was agreed a further meeting would be held over the coming weeks to look in more detail at some of the options.
