Market Harborough’s first ever Food & Drink Festival is set to tantalize the region’s taste buds over the August bank holiday.

The two-day festival, which will be held in Welland Park, is aiming to showcase the very best of the region's producers.

There will be local, regional, national and international cuisine on offer; featuring artisan breads and delicious cakes, cider and beer brewed in the region, local meat, pies aplenty, chutney and cheese in abundance.

Street food traders will offer an exciting array of European, Asian, Indian, African and Caribbean foods. Stalls will showcase a multitude of sweet treats from indulgent chocolate, to pancakes, waffles and handmade fudge.

With over 100 stalls taking part, there will be something for all taste buds and all pockets.

The event, which takes place on Sunday 30 August and Monday 31 August 2015 from 11am to 7pm, is being organised by Market Place which operates Harborough Market on Northampton Road.

Sairah Butt, Harborough Market manager, said: “We want to celebrate the quality and diversity of the superb independent food and drink producers in the region. Market Harborough’s first two day Food and Drink Festival is a great way to do that and will be a perfect way to spend the August bank holiday weekend.”

The event will be free to attend and is suitable for all ages. Alongside the food stalls, there will be a licensed drinks area, live music, craft stalls, cooking demos, street entertainers, face painters and loads more activities.

Sairah added: “Interest in trading at the event has been huge already. So we urge anyone from food traders, craft traders, musicians and entertainers to local chefs and restaurants to get in touch as soon as possible.”
