Green light for major transport survey

A major study which will look to identify scheme to minimise traffic issues in and around Market Harborough for years to come, is to be commissioned.

Harborough District Council’s Executive agreed on Monday, 15 June 2015 to jointly undertake the transport study which aims to provide a comprehensive framework for the town’s future.

The council said the in-depth report will look to pinpoint traffic solutions, sooner rather than later, so funding can be attracted to implement schemes and improvements.

It would also feed into the Local Plan and help develop a potential traffic ‘masterplan’ for Market Harborough.

Harborough District Council will jointly commission and undertake the survey with Leicestershire County Council. Each authority will invest £100,000 to fund the £200,000 strategy.

Councillors gave the project the green light on Monday saying they were hugely optimistic about what it will achieve and that they hoped residents would welcome it.

It was agreed the public will be consulted during the project.
