Council staff are being encouraged to cycle to work as part of a green travel plan.

Harborough District Council’s Executive committee approved a scheme on Monday, 7 September 2015 encouraging staff to use bicycles instead of cars.

The move follows the creation of a Green Travel Plan, by the district council, promoting sustainable travel and healthy lifestyles.

Cllr Blake Pain, leader of Harborough District Council, said: “We’re embracing sustainable travel and encouraging staff to cycle to work, instead of using cars. Schemes like this not only offer health benefits but also mean there are fewer cars on the road. We want to lead by example and hope other businesses and organisations across the district take up similar schemes.”
