Call for Gypsy and Traveller and Travelling Showpeople sites

Published Monday 25 January 2016

Developers, landowners and property agents are being encouraged to help identify any additional sites for potential Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople development.

Harborough District Council will be undertaking a Gypsy and Traveller and Travelling Showpeople Site Identification Study, to identify potential sites to meet identified needs in the district.  The council is duty-bound to ensure it has identified as many potential sites as possible, to meet expected development needs to 2031.

The council is asking for information about any additional potential development sites before the closing date of 5pm on Friday 19 February, 2016.

All qualifying sites submitted will be assessed to ensure they can help to provide a supply of suitable, available and achievable land to meet future Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople needs.

The assessment of these sites will inform the new Local Plan through the Site Identification Study, expected to be completed by summer 2016.  It is important to note that the assessment itself will not determine whether a site should be allocated for development. This will be done through the new Local Plan.

Guidance notes and the Site Suggestion Form are available to read and download from via Harborough District Council’s website at http://www.harborough.gov.uk/consultation/open
