Efficiency plan to help secure Government funding

Harborough District Council’s Executive has approved an efficiency plan to be issued to the Government.

If accepted, it will mean the council is eligible to receive four year Government funding settlements up to 2019/20.

In December 2015, the Government announced the option for local authorities to have more certainty in its financial planning over the next four years in return for councils setting out efficiency plans.

The council’s efficiency plan sets out savings and income generation through maximising the use of its property assets, promoting the area as a great place for business investment, reviewing some services, and though the use of reserves.

At the meeting, on Monday 10 October 2016, councillors praised the achievements of the council in terms of generating sources of revenue through the use of its assets and the commercialisation of some of its services.
