Harborough Museum

The Harborough Museum will be closed from 4 November 2012 until early in the year 2014. This is due to plans to re-develop the Harborough District Council headquarters in Adam and Eve Street where the Museum is housed.

A museum with the standard of exhibits that Harborough's has must be provided with suitably insured and specified premises, of which there are no others within Harborough District. There will therefore be no museum in Harborough during the refurbishment work but some of Harborough's collections, including the Hallaton treasure, will be put on temporary display in other museums across the county, to ensure continued public access.

We think that the new museum, in the modernised council building, will be well worth the wait.

Harborough Museum was established in 1983 and is operated in partnership by Leicestershire County Council, Harborough District Council, and the Market Harborough Historical Society.
