Local Land Charges

If you want to look at the Local Land Charge Register you are entitled to come into our offices and effectively do a search yourself. Whilst you are here you can also view the Local Plan, the Planning Register and Building Regulation history from 1996.

We would respectfully ask that anyone wishing to undertake a personal search takes account of the details below when submitting a request to us:

• The Local Land Charge team operate an appointment system with the first appointment time at 9.30am and the last appointment time at 3.30pm. You should contact the team by telephone to arrange a suitable appointment time.
• Personal Searches are free of charge.
• We will need the name of the person or company who will be undertaking the search; the full address of the property (or area of land) against which the search is to be made and a site plan. We are unable to carry out any search requests without this information.
• A faxed / emailed plan must be submitted by 5.00pm on the day of the booking. The plan must clearly indicate the area to be searched. We will provide information only on the area identified and it is your responsibility to ensure that the identified area is correct. Any notes of information held on the Local Land Charges Register must be taken by the personal searcher who is responsible for their content.
• Failure to provide a clearly outlined plan within the specified time period can result in cancellation of an appointment. Please respect that we treat all personal search persons with the same level of service and it is unfair to delay another person's appointment due to inaccurate or incomplete information being provided.
• We will attempt to accommodate all requests made but we ask that you are aware that we may not always be able to provide you with your preferred appointment time.
• Please identify yourself on arrival at the reception area in the Customer Service Centre.
• Please ensure that you are on time for any appointment. Late arrival can result in us having to re-arrange the appointment. This is due to the impact on other personal search appointments and customers.
• It is strictly prohibited for you to photograph or scan the information provided to you at an appointment. Copies of some documents are able to be provided on request and for the relevant fee. Further action may be taken should we discover information being copied without our permission.
• Please respect the area that we have made available for you to use during appointments. This area is not solely for the use of personal searches and we would ask that you try and work within the workspaces to enable other customers to utilise the self service facilities.
