Covid-19 Additional Relief Fund (CARF)
The Government, through the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities introduced new regulations to support businesses entitled to Covid-19 Additional Relief Fund (otherwise known as CARF).
This fund will be available to support those businesses affected by the pandemic that are generally ineligible for existing support linked to business rates.
As this is a discretionary relief each local authority will have to decide which businesses it wishes to support and a policy created to detail their respective schemes.
Harborough District Council has created its scheme and businesses identified in the sectors the Council are looking to support.
For more information, please download the Harborough District Council’s CARF policy.
Applicants will be contacted by letter and requests for this relief need to be made by 26th August 2022. Any requests after this date will not be accepted.
Applications can be made online at www.grantapproval.co.uk
(When selecting the grant scheme please ensure you have chosen the Rates Discount Form)
This relief is payable in the 2021-22 financial year only.
Businesses must have been adversely affected by the pandemic and have been unable to adequately adapt to that impact.
Businesses that have received Expanded Retail Relief or Nursery Discount or those which are unoccupied in 2021-22 are ineligible for CARF.
The amount of relief awarded to each eligible business will be equal to 11.9%, subject to a maximum award per hereditament of £20,000, of their net Business Rates liability irrespective of their rateable value.
