Council Tax information

We are receiving a large number of emails and telephone enquiries. In the first instance please login to or register for MyServices which will give you online access to your Council Tax, Benefits and Business Rates Accounts. Most changes to demand notices can be seen immediately online, whereas the issue of paper bills may be delayed depending on staff resources and mail availability.

Council Tax bills (demand notices) are sent to every home in the Harborough District. The letters that have been sent to residents show:

  • Your Council Tax charge for the year
  • How you have chosen to pay your Council Tax
  • The different organisations that make separate charges that affect your total Council Tax bill
  • Details of how your Council Tax is spent

How your bill is worked out

The full amount of Council Tax that you have to pay is made up of a number of separate charges made by separate authorities. View a breakdown of the organisations and charges that make up your Council Tax bill.

Tell us immediately if you think your Council Tax bill is wrong. You must continue to pay the amounts set out in your original bill until you are sent a new bill.
