Garden Waste Collection Service

Green bin - Further information

Terms and Conditions of Service

We will only empty green garden waste bins from households that have opted-in to the garden waste collection service annualy each year. Read the garden waste service terms and conditions.

Moving house

If you subscribe to the service and move to a new property in the Harborough District your subscription will continue at your new address – you will be sent a new sticker for the bin at your new property (there will be no extra charge for this). Collections will also continue to be made at the house you moved out of until that year’s subscription comes to an end. Both subscriptions will end at the end of March and each property will need to resubscribe for the service separately.

If you subscribe to the service and move home to a new property outside of the Harborough District you will not be able to receive any refund on the subscription fee you have paid. Collections will continue to be made at the house you moved out of until that year’s subscription comes to an end.

Issues with your garden waste collection service

If you ever have any issues with the service you can contact us by email gardenwaste@harborough.gov.uk or telephone 01858 828282.

Your green bin

We do not remove the green bins from properties that choose not to subscribe to the new service. Harborough District residents can subscribe to the service at any time in the future so we recommend keeping your green bin – if you move house the new owner may want to subscribe to the service and in future we may have to charge for new green bins to be delivered to properties.

If you have not subscribed to the garden waste collection service you can make use of your green bin in any way it is useful: perhaps as garden storage or as a compost bin. If you do need us to remove your green bin from your property please request this via telephone at 01858 828282 or visit the customer services team in The Symington Building. There is a charge of £28.88 to collect and remove your bin or bins - this must be paid when making the request.

A charge will usually be made to replace lost, missing or damaged bins. If a bin has been damaged during collection a charge will not be made for a replacement bin.

Replacement for missing or damaged bin
