Harborough Grow-on Centre gets creative
Visitors being given an eagerly-awaited tour of new commercial offices in the Harborough district also got a glimpse of some eye-catching artwork on show at the centre.
Harborough District Council, in partnership with lettings agent Andrew Granger & Co, hosted a breakfast tour at the new Harborough Grow-on Centre (HGC) on Wednesday 22 January2020, providing an opportunity for businesses, which may be looking to expand into new premises, to view the office suites available.
The centre, at the Compass Point Business Park in Market Harborough, includes offices available to rent ranging in size from 500 – 2,100 sq ft which have been built to the highest environmental standards and performance.
As well as viewing offices at the centre, visitors also got to see original works exhibited by the Harborough Arts Cluster (HAC) – a group of local artists whose work is being showcased at the centre. The artwork is for sale and pieces will be rotated with new installations as the project develops.
Lisa Timmerman, of the Harborough Arts Cluster said: “It is great that the Council is interested in supporting local artists. We do window displays in the town and show pieces in local cafés, which started because we were so short of public spaces to display our artwork, so this is a great opportunity to do that. We hope to have more opportunities in the future. In the meantime, people are welcome to buy or hire the pieces they see on display.”
Councillor James Hallam, Harborough District Council’s lead on the Grow-on Centre, said “This is excellent opportunity to support local talent and promote creativity within the district and we’re delighted to be able to offer this. The artwork is a very valuable and welcome addition to this exciting new commercial office hub.”
The Harborough Grow-on Centre, built to a BREEAM excellent standard, provides auto-adjusting artificial light; reducing energy costs and providing a constant light level varying with natural light levels. It also benefits from high tech glazing, which reduces heat loss and solar gain.
On site electric car charging points are available for tenants’ use and, as well as ample ordinary parking spaces, the cycle shelter and shower facilities provide every encouragement for cycling or running to work.
Harborough District Council provided up to £3,620,612 to fund the Harborough Grow on Centre (HGC) project with £3,282,500 of the funding coming from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and £987,833 from the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP).
