Welland Park is the largest park in Market Harborough. The popular park offers visitors a range of facilities, activities and attractions including:

  • Large playground area for children
  • Tennis courts (3 floodlit)
  • Skate park
  • Social fitness zone - outdoor gym
  • Table tennis table
  • Rugby posts
  • Rose garden, sensory garden and flower displays in summer
  • Grass recreation areas
  • Cafe
  • 35 species of trees
  • Public toilets - including disabled toilets
  • car parks (Farndon Road entrance and Welland Park Road entrance) both with 4 hour waiting limit

Parkrun

The Market Harborough parkrun takes place in Welland Park on Saturday mornings from 9am.

Tennis courts

The park has 5 hard courts.  Tennis courts are free to use but there is a charge for the floodlights on the 3 floodlit courts. Tokens for the floodlights cost £1 each (providing the floodlights for 30 minutes) and can be purchased from reception at The Symington Building during opening hours.

Welland Park Tennis Club (WPTC) is also based here. It offers low cost membership of £15/year and provides members with regular coaching, club sessions and matches.

Skate park

The skate park is located at the Farndon Road end of the park and can be accessed via the foot bridge or from the Satellite Youth Centre. The park incorporates a range of challenging ramps and rails suitable for in-line skaters, skate boarders and BMX users of all abilities.

Social fitness zone - outdoor gym

An adult fitness area is found next to the children's play area. This is free for all the community to use. There are 3 pieces of equipment with clear instructions on how to use them.  It has been designed for people who are beginning their journey to better health and fitness but is equally well suited to someone who exercises regularly.

Equipment includes:

  • A balancing beam which can be used to do press ups, step overs, toe taps
  • Wall bars for a great workout for calf and thigh muscles
  • Stepping posts can be used for shuttle runs, hop over and weaves for a whole body work out

Table tennis

The table tennis table is next to the Welland Park cafe. The table is free to use and cannot be booked in advance. Just turn up with your bats and balls to play.

Dog walk

The dog walk area has been developed for exercising dogs. Dog bins are located in various locations around the park.

Car parking

Welland Park car park is located on Welland Park road with parking spaces for up to 26 cars, and 2 disabled car spaces.

There is also a car park at the Farndon Road end of Welland Park. This car park has 20 family friendly spaces and 2 disabled spaces.

Toilets

Public toilets are located at the eastern end of the park next to the Welland Park Nursery, and also in the café during opening hours.

Events

Healthy walks take place every Monday at 12noon, and Wednesday at 10am. The walks, led by trained walk leaders, start and finish at Welland Park café and last approximately 1 hour. Tea and coffee is available after each walk.

Harborough Band performs on the bandstand on various dates during the summer.

Barbeques

Unfortunately, we do not allow barbeques on any of our Open Spaces as this can be a hazard to others and cause damage to our sites.
