Pub Watch - Market Harborough

What is Market Harborough Pub Watch?

The local Pub Watch scheme was re-established in August 2005 when Clive Patton (formerly of The Peacock) was voted in as Chair, and Ian Lawrence (The Village Inn) as Vice-chair. The current Chair is Ian Lawrence and the Vice-Chair is Michelle O'Dell.  The scheme works in association with the HART scheme which operates in the town.  Both HART and Pub Watch are civil schemes which operate under a constitution and terms and conditions which regulate members operating conditions and also data protection and information sharing between the police, local authority and members.

The scheme works by all members having a two-way radio (the same frequency as HART), where members contact each other, the police, CCTV or the co-ordinator.  Monthly meetings are held for all members where intelligence on local/regional offenders or trouble makers are discussed with the police and the co-ordinator.  From these meetings exclusion orders are issued to offenders or known trouble makers banning them from all of the members premises for a set period.  The majority of the exclusions are issued for violence or drug offences which attract a 12 month ban.  Individuals who receive an exclusion order have their photographs distributed to all members, the police and the CCTV control room.  Individuals will be given a copy of the exclusion order stating which establishments they are banned from.  Individuals will then be asked to leave a members premises if they try to enter, and this is then fed back to the co-ordinator and the police, where further action will be taken.
