Audit of Accounts 2021/22

Notice of Publication of Statement of Accounts, Narrative Report and Annual Governance Statement given in accordance with the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014, the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 and the Accounts and Audit (Amendment) Regulations 2021 and 2022: Harborough District Council is not in a position to issue its final audited Statement of Accounts by the required deadline of 30 November 2022.

The external audit of the draft statement of accounts for the year ended 31 March 2022 has not yet been completed by our external auditors, Mazars LLP, this is because they are waiting to receive information regarding the Local Government Pension Fund.

Non-publication is not a reflection of the Council’s financial standing or governance arrangements, both of which remain strong and robust. The Council had closed its accounts in line with the (revised) 31 July statutory deadline.

This situation is allowed for by Regulation 10, paragraph (2a) of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015.

Therefore, this notification explains, as per paragraph (2a), that we are not yet able to publish our audited 2021/22 final statement of accounts in line with the deadline of 30 November 2022, as per paragraph (1). When the outstanding information has been received and the audit complete, the Audit and Standards Committee will consider the results at a meeting, after which we will publish the final audited accounts.

The draft Statement of Accounts was published online on 06 July 2022, and these remain available at https://www.harborough.gov.uk/HDCaccounts
