Audit of Accounts 2022/23

Notice of Publication of Statement of Accounts, Narrative Report and Annual Governance Statement given in accordance with the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 and the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015: Harborough District Council is not in a position to issue its final audited Statement of Accounts by the required deadline of 30 September 2023.

The external audit of the draft statement of accounts for the year ended 31 March 2023 has not yet been completed by our external auditors, Mazars LLP. This is because their delivery of 2022/23 audits are being impacted by the need to clear a backlog of audit work from previous years.

Non-publication is not a reflection of the Council’s financial standing or governance arrangements, both of which remain strong and robust. The Council had closed its accounts in line with the 31 May statutory deadline.

This situation is allowed for by Regulation 10, paragraph (2a) of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015.

Therefore, this notification explains, as per paragraph (2a), that we are not yet able to publish our audited 2022/23 final statement of accounts in line with the deadline of 30 September 2023, as per paragraph (1). When the audit is complete, the Audit and Standards Committee will consider the results at a meeting, after which we will publish the final audited accounts.

The draft Statement of Accounts was published online on 31 May 2023, and these remain available at https://www.harborough.gov.uk/HDCaccounts
