At its meeting on 12 February 2018 the Executive Committee of Harborough District Council approved the Houghton on the Hill Neighbourhood Plan proceeding to referendum. The referendum date was 29 March 2018.

The Houghton on the Hill Neighbourhood Plan Decision statement of the Local Planning Authority’s satisfaction that the draft Neighbourhood Plan meets the basic conditions specified by statute and complies with the provision made by or under Section 38A and 38B of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004

Referendum

The Houghton on the Hill Neighbourhood Plan passed referendum on 29 March 2018 with 327 persons voting 'yes' out of a turn out of 365 persons.

Referendum result

Following a positive referendum result Harborough District Council is publishing its decision to 'make' the Houghton on the Hill Neighbourhood Development Plan part of Harborough District Councils Development Plan in accordance with Regulation 19 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012.

The referendum held on 29 March 2018 met the requirements of the Localism Act 2011; it was held in the Neighbourhood Area of Houghton on the Hill and posed the question:

'Do you want Harborough District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Houghton on the Hill to help it decide planning applications in the Neighbourhood area?'

The count took place on 29 March 2018 and greater than 50% of those who voted were in favour of the Plan being used to help decide planning applications in the plan area. The results of the referendum were:

Submission

Houghton Neighbourhood Plan submisison version was submitted to Harborough Disctrict Council by Houghton on the Hill Parish Council, as Qualifying Body, on 3 May 2017

The validation check was completed by Harborough District Council on 2 June 2017.

Approval was given to proceed to regulation 16 Consultation by the Portfolio Holder for Planning and Head of Planning Services on 5 June and 9 June 2017 respectively.

Houghton on the Hill Parish Council, as the relevant body, applied for the designation of the Houghton on the Hill Neighbourhood Area. The application was published for a six week period ending on 28 July 2015 and was approved by the Portfolio Holder for Planning Services on 31 July 2015.
