Our policies, plans and strategies - EN10 The Leicestershire and Rutland Planning for Climate Change Study, May 2008

Planning for Climate Change research was undertaken by IT Power, on behalf of Harborough, Blaby, Hinckley and Bosworth, Melton, North West Leicestershire, Oadby and Wigston, and Rutland Councils. The work provides valuable evidence in the preparation of the Council's Local Development Framework (LDF).

The research considered and provided guidance on three key areas of work:

• An assessment of the relative sustainability of each of the emerging LDF Core Strategy options, in order to identify which had the lowest impact in terms of CO2 emissions;
• The potential for renewable energy development across each district, in terms of wind, hydro, biomass, solar photovoltaic, solar water heating and ground source heat pumps;
• Advice on preparing policies relating to energy efficiency in new buildings.
