Our policies, plans and strategies - Provision for Open Space Sport and Recreation 2015

The provision for Open Space Sport and Recreation has been updated in 2015 and adopted by Harborough District Council in January 2016. Consultation with communities has taken to ensure that provision of open space is relevant and is based on community need. The 2015 document gives a framework to protect existing open space, sport and recreation sites and determine where new open space sites should be provided when there is new development. 

It allows developers to have certainty concerning the contribution that a new development will need to make towards open space provision, and ensures that when there is an oversupply of open space then contributions are not sought.
