Drug and alcohol problems
If you, or someone you know, is affected by drugs or alcohol, Turning Point is the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland service for advice, referral and support for users and their families.
The Drink Aware website provides information and guidance on drinking alcohol responsibly.
The Government’s FRANK service also provides information and support and can be contacted 24 hours a day.
Or you can view a list of local services for alcohol addiction on the NHS Choices website.
Drinking in the street and anti social behaviour
Two areas in the district have Public Spaces Protection Orders creating controlled drinking zones, which means the police have the power tell a person to stop and surrender their alcohol for disposal if they have been, are, or intend to drink alcohol in public places when it is associated with anti-social behaviour. These areas are Market Harborough and Lutterworth town centres. Any breach of the order could lead to arrest and a fine of up to £500.
View the Public Space Protection Order (including maps of the controlled drinking zones) made on the 25 August 2016.
A Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPO) can be used to reduce alcohol related violent crime and is not a blanket ban on drinking outdoors.
Litter that may be from drugs use (needles)
If you find a needle or litter that may be from drug use please do not attempt to pick it up or dispose of it yourself. Call 01858 828282 or report drug drug litter for collection online.
This information will help the county's Drug Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) to identify patterns and trends in drug and alcohol misuse.
