Christmas Market Comes to Market Harborough

Harborough District Council is delighted to welcome a three day Christmas Market to the district on Friday 30 November to Sunday 2 December 2018.

The festive event, hosted by Zoom Events, will see street food, groceries and craft stalls filling the Market Harborough town square providing visitors an opportunity to indulge in tasty treats, participate in some Christmas shopping and relax to live music with a festive tipple.

Councillor Neil Bannister, Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “Market Harborough has a wonderful selection of independent retailers and eateries. Together with the Christmas Market, this makes the town the perfect place for Christmas shopping.”

The Christmas Market will feature a variety of craft stalls, showcasing unusual, homemade and ethically-produced items - ideal for stocking fillers, hampers and Christmas gifts.

Shoppers can expect to find products ranging from kitchenware, Indian rugs and Italian clothing, to  books, fragrance lamps, bags and much more.

Groceries and beverages will be available to take home, alongside a wealth of arts and crafts, perfect for Christmas entertaining and family gatherings. These will include treats such as; caramelised nuts, muffins, toffee apples, chocolate marshmallows and  gifts for gin lovers.

Accompanying the array of festive stalls, visitors will be able to relax and soak up the atmosphere whilst enjoying street foods from around the world. Hot foods will include pork or chicken souvlaki, vegetarian and vegan Indian food and homemade pies, plus traditional Thai and Chinese delicacies. The Famous Last Stand bar will be serving mulled wine, spiced cider, hot toddies and a range of Santa’s favourite cocktails, adding to the Christmas festivities.

Paul Kennedy, Director of Zoom Events said: “Alongside the Christmas Market, we are delighted to welcome a very special guest to the event, with children able to meet Santa during the course of the weekend. Festive face-painting will be available and there will be a programme of live music to get everyone in the  seasonal spirit.”

Market Harborough Festive Fayre is free to enter and will be open from 12pm to 7pm on Friday 30 November, 9am to 7pm on Saturday 1st December and 10am – 6pm on Sunday 3 December 2018.
