More than 500 homes in the Harborough district have benefited from measures to save money on their energy bills in the last two years and more householders are being encouraged get support.

Harborough District Council is working in partnership with Harborough Energy to help residents in the Harborough district keep their homes warm and save money on their household bills.

Warmer Homes

If you have received a letter from Harborough Energy – and meet the criteria – you may be entitled to free loft and cavity wall insulation.

More than 300 homes in the Harborough district have had energy-saving measures installed, since April 2018, thanks to the initiative. That is on top of approximately 200 properties which had measures installed the previous year.

Councillor Jonathan Bateman, Harborough District Council’s portfolio holder for Environment and Regulatory Service, said: “This initiative is making a real difference to people’s homes, their energy bills and the environment.  If you’ve received a letter from Harborough Energy do get in touch with them. Even if you’ve had these measures in the last 15 or 20 years they may now need topping up, so it is worth having a survey done.”

Loft or cavity wall insulation can reduce bills by up to £200, which can make a big difference to household expenditure.

The funding is aimed at those who are most at risk of having cold homes or who are vulnerable to cold due to ill health.

Letters are being delivered to households that are best suited to the latest grants, but you can contact Harborough Energy if you think you might be eligible for help.
