People hoping to get on the housing ladder will be helped thanks to the sale of a piece of disused land in Saddington.

Harborough District Council has agreed to sell a small piece of surplus Council land in Weir Road, Saddington, to Waterloo Housing Group.

The sale will provide access to land, owned by Waterloo Housing Group, for the provision of affordable homes for shared ownership.

Executive Councillors approved the sale on 11 February 2019.

Cllr James Hallam, Harborough District Council’s portfolio holder for finance and assets, said: “We continue to maximise the use of our assets, on behalf of the taxpayer, to deliver income to help us provide Council services for our community, whilst enabling some much needed affordable housing for residents.”

Neil Adie, Development Director (East) said “Waterloo Housing are extremely pleased to be working with Harborough District Council on this project which will enable four new shared ownership homes to be developed, for local people in the village of Saddington.”
