Council launches ‘hub’ to help community

A ‘community hub’ has been set up to help to respond to the huge challenges faced by residents and businesses in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

Harborough District Council has set up a dedicated web page – www.harborough.gov.uk/coronavirus for residents and businesses in the Harborough district – which includes a link to the new ‘community hub’ which will steer people towards any emerging support available – both locally and nationally.

The ‘hub’ includes an online form which can be used to provide information to help the Council understand what voluntary support is currently available. Information that is received from voluntary groups will be shared on the web page.

It will also help the Council to identify any gaps where support might be required.

Cllr Phil King, Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “In these unprecedented times, we are continuing to work with the community, and our partners, to help respond to this crisis. This community hub will serve as a one-stop-shop of information and we encourage people to share with us any volunteer support groups they are aware of, or involved with. By continuing to work together; we will be able to overcome the significant challenges ahead.”

The www.harborough.gov.uk/coronavirus webpage includes sub-pages on:

  • information on health
  • information for businesses
  • information about council services
  • community hub – information for residents
  • community hub – information on voluntary and community sector

Visit www.harborough.gov.uk/coronavirus - the online form can be found via the ‘voluntary and community sector hub’ tab.
