Harborough District Council is delighted to announce that the hugely popular Farmers Market is set to return to The Square in Market Harborough on Thursday 2 July 2020, from 9am to 3pm.

The market had been on hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic but will restart with new safety measures in place.

Social distancing measures will be introduced, which includes fencing of the Square to create a one-in, one-out queuing system at entry, a revised layout and hand sanitiser stations in place.

Sit down seating will not be available, and shoppers will be asked not to touch produce without buying and are encouraged to pay by card.

Cllr Phil King, Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “I am really pleased that we are able to run the Farmers Market again, supporting our local producers and their customers.  We have introduced a number of measures to ensure that the market will be a safe space so that the public feel confident to come out and support the traders.”

The return of the Farmers Market follows the full reopening of the indoor market hall.

Cllr King added: “I would also urge shoppers to get behind the businesses at Harborough Market too. It’s been a particularly difficult period for the non-essential goods traders, who need shopper’s custom now more than ever.”
