Santa will be located in a grotto decorated from crochet and knitted squares donated by the local crafting community and co-ordinated by trader Craft-i-Trims, along with many other decorations all made by a talented pool of volunteers. It will be a feast of crafting creations for all ages to enjoy.

Children can visit Santa at the following times:

It isn’t just Santa who is visiting the market, some of the penguins from the North Pole are also coming to visit. Lots of them! There will be penguins all around the market and we need your help to count them to make sure none have got lost. Collect an entry form from the market and see how many you can find in our Waddle lot of Penguins competition. Closing date for entries is Christmas Eve with winners drawn on Wednesday 28 December.

There will be a post box at Happy Beans store next to the Market Place Café where you can post your letters to Santa too with lots of traders selling amazing gifts and Christmas decorations.

People can also donate new, unwrapped toys, books or toiletries, etc, to the Toys on the Table Appeal at the drop-off point at the market.

Cllr King, Leader of Harborough District Council said: “There’s a lot of fun to be had at Harborough market this Christmas time. Why not take this opportunity to entertain the children and stock up on some local Christmas gifts and treats too. It’s great that we can also support local charities Voluntary Action South Leicestershire and Motor Neurone Disease Association Leicester. Please don’t forget to support the Toys on The Table campaign if you can.”

Harborough Market is open Tuesday to Thursday, 8am-4pm and Friday and Saturday 8am to 5pm Sunday, 10am-3pm. The market will also be open on Monday 19 December as an additional day along with Friday December 2 for late night shopping.

There is also a Farmers Market on The Square in Market Harborough, on Thursday 1 December with a special extra Farmers Market taking place on Thursday 15 December 2022 for locally-sourced festive food and Christmas present ideas.
