As part of the Leicester Comedy Festival, Harborough District Council is bringing some top comedy acts to the district with venues including Harborough Market, Harborough Theatre, Beerhouse and Foxton Village Hall hosting comedy events as part of the ‘BIG Weekend’ of comedy from 11 February to 19 February 2023.

Harborough Market, owned by Harborough District Council, will be transformed into a theatre for the weekend to host three comedy shows for all the family and is being supported by Market Harborough Building Society who have kindly sponsored this year’s event.

On Saturday 18 February 2023 at 8pm Harborough Market hosts a mixed bill hosted by Chris Brooker and features Northampton born Andrew Bird and the mildly bonkers 2019 UK Comedy Awards Comedian of the Year winners, The Raymond and Mr Timpkins Revue.

Sunday 19 February 2023 brings us two shows with Comedy Club 4 Kids at 2pm and a second mixed bill at 7.30pm. Comedy Club 4 Kids is aimed at 6+ age children making comedy accessible for the young without the rude words and really is a family afternoon of fun, laughs and entertainment.

Also on Sunday 19 February, Live at the Market Hall in the evening is compered by the wonderful Sarah Johnson and features Peter Brush and Britain’s Got Talent Finalist and comedy genius Robert White.

Other acts included in the BIG Comedy Weekend include Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2020, Eric Rushton at Foxton Village Hall on Friday 17 February, Sandy Wardrop for Some-antics at Cotesbach Educational Trust and Smack the Pony’s hilarious Fiona Allen at The Wycliffe Rooms in Lutterworth on Saturday 18 February. Beerhouse are also hosting a Comedy Quiz on Monday 20 February.

Cllr Phil King, Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “It’s great to see so many exciting acts confirmed for what is likely to be a thrilling event to begin the year. The Harborough district is blessed with having some wonderful venues which will host some seriously funny and entertaining comedians. Please attend and show your support for the festival.”
