Save on your energy bills by joining council’s ‘Big Community Switch’ scheme

Residents across the Harborough district are being encouraged to join others in saving money on their energy bills.

Harborough District Council’s ‘Big Community Switch’ initiative, launched in partnership with iChoosr, may be able to help households save money by switching to lower energy tariffs as part of a group.

Residents can sign up to the scheme in which energy companies bid against each other to provide the lowest tariffs.

Once the cheapest supplier is identified, residents who have signed up to the scheme have a choice of whether to proceed and sign up with the new supplier. There are no obligations for the resident to switch if they choose not to.

Cllr Darren Woodiwiss, Harborough District Council’s Cabinet lead for Environmental and Climate Change, said: “At a time when the cost of household energy bills are sky high the ‘Big Community Switch’ can help residents switch energy suppliers, move to a renewable electricity tariff and save money on their energy bills.”

Register for the Harborough District Council ‘Big Community Switch’ scheme for free and without obligation before 21 June 2023 at: https://www.harborough.gov.uk/bigcommunityswitch

People who have registered by this date will receive their personal offer from 4 July, based on their registration details, and will be able to see how much money they could save.
