The chairman of the council and other invited guests attended a short ceremony in Church Square, Market Harborough, before the Armed Forces Day flag was flown from The Symington Building, the council offices.

The occasion marks the build up to Armed Forces Day, taking place on Saturday 24 June 2023, which is an opportunity for the nation to show its support for service men and women, whether veteran or still serving and celebrate the work they do in support of our country; and raise awareness of past and continuing service.

Chairman of the council, Cllr Barbara Johnson, said: “This Armed Forces Day we take the opportunity to show our gratitude to all those in the Harborough district who are serving, or who have served, in the armed forces, and to their families.”

The flag will fly from the building all week up until and including Armed Forces Day.
