Gold for Market Harborough in national In Bloom competition

Market Harborough has won gold in the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society Best of Britain awards.

Market Harborough In Bloom’s volunteers were handed a gold award in the Large Town category of the contest at the results ceremony in London on Monday 23 October.

This achievement follows the town’s In Bloom team winning the regional competition for the second year running recently.

Cllr Phil Knowles, Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “This really is a wonderful achievement. I must offer my thanks and congratulations to all involved. Everyone who has supported this project has really put Market Harborough on the map.”

Judges visited Market Harborough in August when they were accompanied by Cllr Barbara Johnson, Chairman of Harborough District Council.

The winners were announced last night live on BBC1’s The One Show.
