Climate friendly information to be shared at Sustainability Accelerator Event
Published Friday 16 May 2025A sustainability-focused convention is scheduled for local businesses during Great Big Green Week.

Harborough District Council has organised a Sustainability Accelerator Event in collaboration with Greener Futures Leicestershire at Harborough Innovation Centre, on Wednesday 11 June 2025, from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
This free event is open to anyone in the Harborough district looking to reduce their carbon footprint and become more environmentally friendly.
The day will feature up-to-date guidance on the UK government’s sustainability reporting standards, alongside a choice of interactive workshops.
Topics will include:
- Action planning and meeting legal requirements
- Calculating your carbon footprint
- Accessing funding opportunities
- Reducing the environmental impact of digital activity
- Using sustainability to boost tourism
A complimentary lunch will be provided, and there will be plenty of opportunities to network.
After the event, attendees will also be able to work towards a sustainability recognition award.
Cllr Darren Woodiwiss, Cabinet lead for Environmental and Climate Change, said: “This is a valuable, hands-on opportunity to grow, strengthen sustainable practices and connect with others. It supports our local community while demonstrating the council’s commitment to delivering practical actions through our Climate Emergency Action Plan.”
