Harborough District Council has approved funding for two local organisations through its £1 million Community Grant Fund, supporting projects that will benefit residents and strengthen community engagement.

Following the Cabinet Sub-Committee Grants meeting, on Monday 19 January 2026, grants were approved for the following groups:

  • Little Bowden Bowling Club – £9,439.20 to purchase a replacement mower and £35,502 to resurface the club’s car park and install solar lighting
  • The 3rd Market Harborough Scout Group – £55,882 to improve their Scout hut including upgrades to toilet, kitchen and storage facilities. The group also received £31,392 in Section 106 funding for this project.

These grants showcase the council’s ongoing commitment to supporting community-led initiatives that promote community leadership, health and wellbeing, sustainability and cultural enrichment and prosperity across the Harborough district.

Cllr Phil Knowles, Leader of Harborough District Council and Chair of Cabinet Sub-Committee Grants, said: “We are proud to support these fantastic projects that bring people together and create opportunities for young people and local communities. Our Community Grant Fund is a great example of how we can make a real difference at a local level.”

The next round of applications for the Community Grant Fund can be submitted up to 16 February 2026.
