More than £95,000 shared with community projects
Published Wednesday 13 May 2026Community projects have received a welcome financial boost from Harborough District Council.
The council’s Cabinet agreed, on 12 May 2026, to allocate a total of £96,359.61 to two exciting projects in the Harborough district.
The projects are benefiting from Section 106 money which is provided by developers for community projects and social infrastructure in locations where development has taken place.
The projects which have successfully applied for funding are Kibworth Joint Recreation Board, which received £47,359.96 for a path upgrade to Rookery Park, and Harborough District Council’s Environmental Services, which received £48,999.65 for accessible play equipment upgrades at Bellfields Recreation Ground, Market Harborough.
Cllr Simon Whelband, Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “These grants will make a real difference to communities across the district. Residents told us they wanted improved and more accessible play equipment, and we are pleased to be delivering on that feedback while also supporting improvements to valuable community spaces.”
Organisations from areas with Section 106 funding are invited to submit grant applications. Details of these areas are available on the council’s website at: www.harborough.gov.uk/grants
