A further meeting is planned to outline options to safeguard the future of the town’s war memorial, situated at the Cottage Hospital, the council and NHS organisations have confirmed.

A meeting attended by Harborough District Council Executive members Cllr James Hallam, Cllr Paul Bremner, Cllr Phil King, the council’s corporate director for community services, and NHS organisations, was held at The Symington Building in Market Harborough on 5th January 2015.

At the meeting it was agreed by all present that Harborough District Council and NHS organisations would meet with English Heritage on 20th January 2015 to consider the options regarding the future of the war memorial, currently situated at Cottage Hospital in Coventry Road.

Councillors said they were pleased the issue was being addressed and that it is anticipated further information would be issued publically, on a joint basis by NHS organisations and district council as to the outcome.

In the meantime, an update on the hospital project is being given by Dr David Sharp of NHS England to the council’s scrutiny committee on 15 January 2015 and is available to view on the NHS England website here.
