Voluntary and community sector – your views needed

Published Friday 17 July 2015

Harborough District Council is inviting feedback on the support it provides to the voluntary and community sector to meet the needs of local communities.

The district has a strong voluntary and community sector with around 500 registered groups and individuals making a difference in neighbourhoods and the wider district.

The consultation aims to help identify where funding should be focused, how community groups can become sustainable, and ensure a consistent approach to rent/hire charges.

Cllr Rosita Page, who has responsibility for voluntary sector partnerships at the district council, said: “We have a fantastic voluntary and community sector and the contribution this makes to the district is widely acknowledged. However, in light of ongoing funding pressures we need to look at how we work with this sector, and how it is funded, in line with council priorities and the views of residents.”

The survey can be completed, before the deadline of 24 August 2015, via the council’s website at www.harborough.gov.uk/vcsconsultation

Paper copies are available, if required, from The Symington Building, Adam and Eve Street, Market Harborough.

The deadline for comments is 24 August 2015. Following the consultation a report will go to Harborough District Council’s Executive committee in October 2015.
