Up to £35k up for grabs for small businesses

Published Thursday 18 February 2016

Small businesses in the Harborough district are urged to apply for grants of up to £35,000 before this month's deadline.

LEADER is a European funding programme designed to support rural development by providing grants to small businesses and communities.

The programme is running from 2015-2020 with almost €2million (approximately £1.5million) available in total for the East Leicestershire area.

A Local Action Group is put together made up of people from the local community, and public and private sectors. This group will decide which projects will be funded in the area.

Businesses are encouraged to apply for funding before the deadline of 29 February 2016.

Funding will be focussed on three of East Leicestershire's local priorities:

  • Well connected and innovative land-based businesses supported to improve their productivity and exploit diversification opportunities
  • A growing food and drink sector producing and promoting high quality local foods
  • Active and inclusive communities that are able to help provide local services
