Flag raising for Armed Forces Day

Published Friday 16 June 2017

A specially commissioned flag will be hoisted on Monday 19 June 2017 to mark Armed Forces Day.

Harborough District Council will be hoisting the flag in Market Harborough, in the presence of a number of dignitaries, together with other local authorities, businesses and homes across the country.

The Chairman of the Council Cllr Grahame Spendlove-Mason, Deputy Lieutenant Andrew Granger, veterans, service organisation representatives, and other guests, will hold a short ceremony after the flag is hoisted on The Symington Building in Adam and Eve Street at 10.30am, to mark the build up to Armed Forces Day on Saturday 24 June 2017.

This is an opportunity for the nation to show its support for service men and women, whether veteran or still serving and celebrate the work they do in support of our country; and raise awareness of past and continuing contributions of our service.
