Terms and conditions
Before you nominate
Getting permission
- You must get permission from the potential nominee before submitting your nomination (unless there are exceptional circumstances that make this difficult). If they're shortlisted, they'll need to confirm their agreement to proceed.
Who can be nominated
- Self-nominations are only permitted where explicitly stated for specific awards.
- Harborough District Council staff and councillors cannot be nominated but are welcome to nominate others.
- You can nominate each person or organisation only once, but you're welcome to make multiple nominations for different individuals, groups or businesses.
How to nominate
- Nominations must be submitted using the official nomination form - other methods will generally not be accepted. Please email us at communityawards@harborough.gov.uk if you are not able to access the form.
- Nominations received after the closing date will not be considered.
- We may ask for additional information about your nominee to help with shortlisting decisions.
Data protection
- By submitting a nomination, both nominators and nominees consent to the collection, storage, and processing of personal data in accordance with Harborough District Council Privacy Notice | Privacy | Harborough District Council and applicable data protection laws.
The Judging Process
- Harborough District Council will decide which nominees are put forward for shortlisting and will have final approval of the panel decision.
- Harborough District Council may decide that a nominee is more suitable for a different category than originally submitted.
- We aim to select a winner and runner-up in each category, though we reserve the right to adjust categories or not select winners/runners-up in some or all categories.
- All decisions are final with no appeal process.
After the awards
- Winners and runners-up agree to participate in reasonable publicity related to the awards, including on the Council website and in local and social media.
- Winners and runners-up can choose to donate any monetary prizes to a registered charity or community organisation.
