New heritage grants to celebrate Harborough district’s history and culture
Published Monday 12 May 2025Businesses and organisations in Harborough district are invited to apply for new grant funding designed to support the celebration and promotion of local heritage, culture and historical venues.

Grants of between £500 and £2,000 are available for revenue-based projects, with no match funding required.
The scheme is open to both new and established initiatives, including activities such as Heritage Open Days, and aims to boost the visibility and appeal of local history and culture, attracting new audiences and enhancing community engagement.
Funding can be used for:
- Marketing and promotional materials to attract visitors
- Hiring entertainers, musicians, and performers
- Creating engaging exhibition displays and interpretation boards
- Purchasing event kits or equipment to improve visitor experience
- Enhancements to public venues hosting heritage activities
- Developing or expanding heritage trails and storytelling projects
The Celebrating Local History, Heritage & Identity Grants are open to eligible businesses and organisations across the Harborough district, subject to location criteria outlined in the grant guidance.
Cllr Jo Asher, Cabinet lead for Culture, Leisure, Economy and Tourism, said: “Harborough district has a rich and vibrant history, and we want to support the organisations that help bring that to life for residents and visitors.
“These grants offer a great opportunity to create exciting, engaging experiences that celebrate our heritage and attract people into our towns and villages. I encourage all eligible groups to take a look and apply.”
