General grant exclusions

  • General funding to support an organisation's routine activities. 
  • Projects or items that primarily benefit a private individual, business, or for-profit organisation. 
  • Activities that promote political parties, campaigns, or religious worship (though non-religious community activities hosted by faith groups are allowed). 
  • Items or services that are the responsibility of another organisation or authority (e.g., school supplies, road repairs, or healthcare services). 
  • Reimbursement for projects or purchases made before the grant was approved. 
  • Significant construction projects or building purchases that exceed the scope or budget of the grant. 
  • Activities that lack clear long-term benefits, feasibility, or conflict with Council priorities. 
  • Funding for cash prizes, gift cards, or giveaways unrelated to project outcomes. 
  • Costs for alcohol, excessive hospitality, or activities viewed as purely social entertainment without a wider community benefit.
