Apprentice Stories

Sam Wells - IT Services

Sam Wells apprentice

Sam started as an Environmental Services apprentice with Harborough District Council in 2018, working within the waste management, grounds maintenance and street cleansing department. He gained his qualification in Business Administration in February 2019. Sam now works in the Council's IT Services team, studying a Level 3 Software, Web & Telecoms Professional IT Apprenticeship. Let's hear how he BLAZEd his trail as an apprentice:

My Apprenticeship has given me valuable experience, and the correct skills to work well in an office, it has also given me much-needed confidence.

Being an apprentice has given me the opportunity to have hands-on training and a chance to put my new-found skills into practise. I'm learning new skills each day.

Both apprenticeships, in their different ways, have helped me realise my goals. My ambition is to gain full time employment within the council.

I’m passionate about both the apprenticeships that I have undertaken as they have given me opportunities that I didn’t have before.

Since starting my apprenticeships I have become more confident and I have a real love for the work I do. Every day is a new challenge.
